| Indonesia's MUI says Valentine's Day is 'haram' Posted: 10 Feb 2011 12:14 AM PST JAKARTA - THE Dumai chapter of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in Riau says the celebration of Valentine's Day is haram (forbidden for Muslims). 'From its origins, it is recognised that the Valentine's Day is a holiday of non-Muslims in Rome, Italy. Therefore, Valentine's Day celebrations are forbidden for Muslims,' MUI Dumai chairman Rozai Akbar told Antara in Dumai on Thursday. |
